Institute Archives (ROME)

The archives of the Brothers of the Christian Schools have been located in Rome since 1936. They offer extensive resources, services, and historical exhibitions of the patrimony of the Institute. Their website provides access to some resources and a full inter-active engagement of the Institute Museum, located at the Casa Generalizia.

Description

The archives store 1000 meters of documents and objects, organizes a library of 90,000 books, and maintains several museum exhibit spaces at the Casa Generalizia. It is home to the largest exclusively Lasallian archives in the world. At present, there are 10,434 archival boxes, covering 1,000 linear meters of shelves.

The Institute archives fosters multi-disciplinary research in dialogue with the living tradition of the Institute and in the context of 21st century realities by identifying and training new researchers and generating research processes that are supported by the use of primary resources that are accessible through communication technology.
