Description

This history book was first published in 1948, the centenary celebation of the Brothers in the United States. It was written by Brother Angelus Gabriel (Joseph Aloysius Cashin), a scholar and professor of English Literature at Manhattan College in New Yok. His many degrees, including a PhD from Fordham, along with his many years of teaching made him an ideal author for this very accessible history of Lasallian education in the United States. It was called a “monumental work” in its time, and Br. Angelus Gabriel received an honorary PhD in Literature from Duquesne University because of its quality and substance.

The book is a standard reference work for Lasallian archivists, librarians, and historians. It has been out of print for many year, and few copies exist in current libraries. This is why is has been reprinted and made available in paperback form.
