A Little More Information

Created for the first large assembly of San Francisco District Lasallians in 1998, this short video was intended to unite the group together by highlighting the various places and works of the District, both here and overseas. The videographer knew nothing of who we were when he was hired for the role, and he was given no specific directions except to reflect what he saw and experienced as he traveled to 7 countries on three continents, shooting 56 hours of videotape in Lasallian schools around the world. At the end of the experience, he told the group “It was remarkable to see how similar it is and how powerful and wonderful it was for someone who knew nothing of this, to watch this process happening here and in all of those other countries. Absolutely inspiring, touching moving, powerful stuff…You certainly educated my sound man and me in the course of this project.” This video is what came from all of that travel, filming, and editing. It therefore represents the perspective of one “outside” witness, who became as inspired about it all as most Lasallians become over the course of several years.
