A Little More Information

This is the major historical overview of the District of San Francisco, founded in 1868, when the Brothers of the Christian Schools traveled to San Francisco from New York in order to take over the responsibility for Saint Mary’s College at the request of the bishop of San Francisco, until just before the end of World War II. Ronald Isetti used historical documents, interviews, and a variety of other resources in order to put together this very readable history. It is the most comprehensive treatment of the history of the Brothers on West Coast that has been done.
