Brother Stephen Markham ’66 shares memories of Brother James Miller, FSC ’66, MA ’74 as a student at Saint Mary’s University, of his life’s work teaching young students, and of his tragic death in Guatemala in 1982. Blessed Brother James is the first De La Salle Christian Brother from the United States to be beatified. Brother Stephen describes the beatification process. As a martyr, Brother James must have one miracle attributed to him posthumously to reach the next and final step toward official sainthood, which is canonization.
