The Life and Death of Brother James Miller, FSC
Brother Stephen Markham ’66 shares memories of Brother James Miller, FSC ’66, M’74 as a student at Saint Mary’s University, of his life’s work teaching young students, and of his tragic death in Guatemala in 1982. Blessed Brother James is the first De La Salle Christian Brother from the United States to be beatified. Brother Stephen describes the beatification process. As a martyr, Brother James must have one miracle attributed to him posthumously to reach the next and final step toward official sainthood, which is canonization.

Meditations of John Baptist De La Salle
The collection of 208 meditations by St. John Baptist de La Salle, each in three parts, that cover a wide range of topics, saints, feast days, and matters directly related to the education of youth. It’s focus is on the person of the teacher and the spiritual dimensions of an educator’s vocation. It is an inspiring guidepost to anyone in the ministry of education. Some of the sentiments in 17th century theology. But much of this book may be applied to one’s own journey as a Lasallian administrator and the demands that the responsibility makes.

Saint John Baptist de La Salle: Patron Saint of Teachers
A remastered version of the 1968 movie, starring Mel Ferrer, that traces De La Salle’s vocation journey and the beginnings of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. While perhaps a bit dated, it remains popular with students and could be used beneficially with a number of audiences.

Senior Courtney Ford’s Keynote Address
This is a compelling talk at De La Salle North Catholic, a San Miguel School in Portland, OR, by a senior who speaks about her experience at the school, and who exemplifies the kind of student and student experience that the school strives to serve.

Brothers of the San Francisco New Orleans District – VIDEOS
These brief 3-4 minute videos by Joseph Alexander-Short are wonderful, poignant, and inspiring insights into the lives of some of the Brothers of the San Francisco New Orleans District of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. They are part of an effort both to share the rich vocational heritage of the province and to make the vocation of the Brother more generally known and appreciated.

Saint Mary’s College of California – Sharing the Mission VIDEOS
These interviews with 15 “Professors of the Year” (1992 – 2005) at Saint Mary’s College of California center around the descriptors that came from the college’s “New Century Committee” document, in which the college was described as a “Premier, Catholic, Lasallian, Liberal Arts Learning Community.”
Along with the short films on each topic – Liberal Arts, Catholic, Lasallian, Students, The Professor, Sharing the Mission – there is the longer compilation of all the interviews in a single 55-minute video (the last in the series below).

The Life of De La Salle (& Manhattan College)
This is a video in commemoration of the tercentenary celebration of the death of St. John Baptist de La Salle in 1719. His life story is told via sections from interviews with individuals at Manhattan College. Along with the story of De La Salle, many students relate why they appreciate Lasallian education, and what they are doing to continue that inspiration into the future. This Is Our Lasallian Story
This video shares a series of short vignettes about various Lasallian educational ministries around the world, many of them working the marginalized and needy. It is a wonderful, professionally created compendium of the range of Lasallian ministries. Both teachers, Brothers, students, and others involved in this mission contribute to a reflective narrative that highlights the unique loving approach of Lasallian ministry, supremely sensitive to others and eminently practical in addressing real needs.

The Fratelli Project – Lebanon
The Solidarity and Development Secretariat at the Casa Generalizia in Rome has been involved in the Fratelli Project for some years, where the Marist Brothers and the De La Salle Christian Brothers have joined in Lebanon to accompany Syrian, Iraqi and Lebanese children who have difficulties to study due to the armed conflicts in their countries.
This is a recent video of their ongoing ministry. More information and links in the longer description below.

2021 – Lasallian Speakers Symposium – ANZPPG
Three online professional learning symposia for Lasallian Educators.

The ANZZPG Lasallian Formation for Mission Team has created a program of three online symposia focussing on the 2021 Institute Theme: “You Are Part of the Miracle: Our Vision, Our Passion, Our Future.”
The format is a 30-45 minute presentation followed by a short period of facilitated discussion. There is one presenter each from Singapore, the Philippines, and the United States.

Terre des Frères (Land of the Brothers)
These five videos – Terre des Frères (Land of the Brothers) – commemorate the life of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in French-speaking Canada. While filmed in French, they have English subtitles and are a wonderful testimony to the Lasallian ministries there.

2023 Lasallian Spirituality Today
This short, accessible booklet was created by an international Think-Tank of Lasallian educators that spent three years in research, conversation, and engagement around the experience and dynamics of Lasallian spirituality today. It is meant to be a resource for ongoing reflection about the Lasallian mission by Lasallian educators in a wide variety of contexts. As such, it is neither comprehensive nor the last word. It is meant to invite and empower conversations among those engaged in the Lasallina mission, no matter their level of interest, experience, or responsibility.
