An Institute in Transition

This is the story of three General Chapters of the Brothers of the Christian Schools by someone who attended and participated in all of them (1966, 1976, 1986) and whose observations provide both the factual, contextual, and personal outlines of the experience.

Description

This is a personal account of the transitions that happened in the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools by someone who attended three key General Chapters and contributed significantly to the foundational theology, documentation, and legislation that emerged from these twenty years of post-Vatican II changes.

The book is a very accessible and interesting overview of the major formative movements that led various transitions in the Lasallian world after Vatican II. As such, it will help Lasallian educators and administrators gain a wider perspective regarding their own specific context, placing their efforts in alignment with those around the world.

The author’s writing style is clear, insightful, and unfailingly readable. The photographs and the notes at the end of each chapter give the whole tone both the personal touch and a professionally observant perspective.
